Did you know that your hearing impairment can qualify you for a third off rail travel?

It costs £20 upfront for the year, so you have to be a regular user for it to be worthwhile, but then the savings start stacking up.
This link will take you to the supplier of disabled railcards for National Rail. You’ll need to download and fill in a form, have part of it completed by your friendly audiologist (yes I will, if you purchased your aids from me) and send it off to them. The online process for applying is pretty quick and easy too.
Eligibility wise, you have to wear hearing aids prescribed for you. No matter if NHS or private. For companion travel, you need to require assistance. I have filled in James’ noting that he needs a buddy because he cannot hear tannoy announcements - seems pretty valid to me!
In West Yorkshire, if you're profoundly or severely deaf*, you can also get a pass for free off-peak bus travel. This link will take you there, and the process of applying online is simple and quick, once I have completed the attached form for you (below). Again, free for my hearing aid customers, reasonable admin charge for others needing assistance.
Enjoy your trip!
Sally
*This does not mean you have to be profoundly/severely deaf at every frequency. I'll use my clinical judgment in cases where a portion of loss is in the severe category.
