Widex Allure

I’m very excited to have completed training on Widex’ newest hearing aid platform/generation, the Allure.

Initial manufacturer info suggests a noticeable improvement in chip performance, meaning smooth/fast transition between listening environments such as walking through the door of a noisy restaurant.

Excitingly, the feedback suppression has been completely rewritten. Hearing aids normally combat whistling (feedback) by squashing gain (making the incoming sounds quieter for the wearer. Widex have produced a method which changes the pitch of the sound instead of quieting it, so you shouldn’t get the “squeeee-SILENCE” effect when someone hugs you. Great if they hug and talk at the same timetime, because you should be able to keep up with the conversation.

Widex have kept the rough outline of previous rechargeable aids, but incorporated their lovely new microphone shield/arrangement from the SmartRIC, which allows sound from all angles and looks pretty dust/grot resistant too. Very happy about this.

A couple of genuinely groundbreaking things in this release, and I’m going to tell you more when I get a pair next week and give them a full road test, warts and all!

I’m definitely biased in favour of Widex, but it’s not without good reason. If this release doesn’t live up to expectations I’ll be the first to say so.

I’m genuinely very excited though. Cannot wait to try! Check back with me in a week or two, or contact me to book a trial in.
