Does Weather Affect My Tinnitus? Is Barometric Pressure a Tinnitus Factor

This is a message from my tinnitus support postbag, edited to remove identifying details:
I have had tinnitus 7 years. I had a cold and sneezed so hard before bed the night before that my neck made a crunching sound, I then woke up with it. I did the ENT route and so forth and nothing. Doctors have been insensitive, unhelpful and out of touch.
How do I cope? I listen to a great deal more music, talk shows and do my best to not pay attention to it. But there days where it is overwhelming.
My partner has it too. We have noticed it gets louder at the same time for us both. I truly believe there is a frequency, weather pressure connection.) Anyone else notice this?
I think it would depend on the root cause of the T. If someone has inflamed tissues or middle ear congestion, I can see it being a factor.
Otherwise I would say it’s more likely that a person and their partner are likely to be experiencing similar stresses and emotions.
As a side note, although it’s useful to know what your major triggers are, I do not recommend keeping a diary or thinking about T.
Tinnitus is a problem that gets *worse* when it’s thought about, and the neurological pathways get *reinforced*, so your goal should always be distraction, and deliberately thinking/listening to something else.
